The Energy Committee made a representation to the Chairman of Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA) on August 16th recommending desirable policy changes to the Gujarat solar and wind power policies. Presently, three solar and wind energy policies i.e., Wind Power Policy 2016, Wind-Solar Hybrid Policy 2018 and Solar Power Policy 2021 are under implementation in Gujarat. These policies allow renewable power installation up to 50% of the contract demand. For energy intensive industries, price of power is a major cost. The capacity restrictions are a barrier for them to expand, lower cost and move to cleaner energy sources, hence AMCHAM requested a removal of these capacity restrictions.
