The 7th meeting of the U.S.-India Fast Track Mechanism was held on March 26th under the Co-Chairpersonship of Ms. Himani Pande, Additional Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India and Mr. Jonathan Heimer, Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs, U.S. Embassy in New Delhi. In the agenda, amongst other items, were challenges raised by AMCHAM members Apple India Pvt. Ltd., Beam Suntory India, Copeland India Pvt. Ltd., Dell Technologies and Emerson Process Management India, in which representatives from each company presented their concerns. Discussion was held on the Plastic Waste Management Rules 2022, export procedures under SCOMET and pending Special Valuation Branch (SVB) Investigation Reports by India Customs, QCO exemption from applicability of QCO on hermetic compressors of more than 7000 W (2 TR) and overdue payments from the Telangana State Beverages Corporation (TSBCL). Consequent to the discussions, the Additional Secretary advised next steps for each of the items towards a speedy settlement. AMCHAM was represented by Wg Cdr Rajiv Anand, Senior Director.
