AMCHAM met with Mr. Manish Chadha, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, on June 11th at Udyog Bhawan, New Delhi. The meeting was convened to foster dialogue around enhancing the ease of doing business for U.S. companies operating in India. During the interaction, members shared constructive feedback and recommendations on a range of policy issues impacting industry operations. The discussion focused on inter-ministerial coordination to streamline business processes and address key regulatory challenges. Members raised concerns related to proposed restrictions on semiconductor products that power artificial intelligence technologies, and how such policies could influence India’s digital transformation and innovation ecosystem. Additional topics of deliberation included taxation frameworks, public procurement policies and implications of localization requirements. The dialogue underscored the importance of maintaining a balanced regulatory approach to ensure sustained investment and growth in India’s technology and manufacturing sectors. Representatives from Amazon, AMD, AWS, Dell, HPE, Intel, Microsoft and Ms. Rashi Verma, Director, AMCHAM joined the meeting.
