AMCHAM’s Medical Technology Committee had a constructive meeting with Mr. Aman Sharma, Joint Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India, on April 17th at his office. The interaction brought together senior leaders from leading U.S. medical technology companies operating in India for a focused dialogue on key policy and regulatory issues impacting the sector. Discussions covered aspects related to GTE inclusions and exclusions, challenges in the implementation of the Public Procurement Order (PPO), expansion of local content definitions, and operational concerns pertaining to the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal.  During the discussion on the UCMDMP – Healthcare Professionals Training Programme, the Joint Secretary informed members that the recommendation to remove Clause 6.2 has been submitted for approval. AMCHAM extended a formal invitation to the Joint Secretary to address AMCHAM’s 4th Healthcare Summit, scheduled for April 30th in New Delhi.
