AMCHAM had a meeting with Dr. Brij Mohan Mishra, Joint Secretary (NAFTA), Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, on April 29^th to discuss emerging opportunities in data centers. Ms. Ranjana Khanna, Director General CEO, AMCHAM delineated how India is emerging as a major global data center hub and the urgent need for lending support to industry through robust data infrastructure and regulatory frameworks to complement the digital ecosystem.  Addressing members, Dr. Brij Mohan Mishra appreciated AMCHAM’s initiative to support development of the data center industry, which is on high priority for the government, and assured support to address industry concerns. Mr. Rajan Aiyer, Chairman – Tamil Nadu Chapter, AMCHAM, Chairman – Infrastructure & Smart Cities Committee, AMCHAM and Managing Director, Trimble India and South Asia, spoke about the need for developing an ecosystem from design to execution, operation and maintenance of data centers and how technology would be the enabler for achieving it. Members deliberated on infrastructure requirements, including, availability of clean power, water, land, and fibre network connectivity, as well as regulatory concerns. Representatives from Amazon Web Services, Autodesk, Blackstone, Carrier, Cushman & Wakefield, FTI Consulting, GE Vernova, Honeywell, Intel, and Microsoft attended the meeting.
