On April 17th, AMCHAM’s Supply Chain & Logistics Committee organized a virtual knowledge sharing session on ‘Sustainability in Supply Chains’ with knowledge partner McKinsey in India. The session commenced with opening remarks by Ms. Iram Siddique, Regional Director – Western Region, AMCHAM, followed by Mr. Praveen Gosain, Chairman – Supply Chain & Logistics Committee, AMCHAM and Director (Supply Chain India), Corning Technologies India Private Limited who set the stage through his welcome address.

Through a presentation and dialogue the session speaker Mr. Prabhav Sharma, Partner| Lead Digital in resource for McKinsey Asia| Expert in Productivity Improvement, McKinsey & Company, shared his expert insights on material circularity for supply chain decarbonization. Mr. Prabhav stressed upon the pressure on organizations to act on decarbonization with increasing demand for transparency and financial implication. He highlighted how carbon foot-printing sits right in the extended value chains (scope 3) of most organizations, but despite that not being in the organization’s direct control, these organizations are committing to ambitious goals in emission reduction targets. Mr. Prabhav then gave an elaborate work plan for a transformative approach to decarbonize supply chains. He emphasized his point giving examples of various practices adopted by different global organizations. This was followed by a Q&A segment. The event concluded with closing remarks and a vote of thanks by Mr. Gosain.
