On 15th February 2018, AMCHAM’s Eastern Region, in partnership with the ICT Division of the Government of Bangladesh, hosted an investment opportunity session at the Hyatt Regency in Kolkata. The day started with one-one meetings with the Bangladesh team of officials and companies that were looking for opportunities to invest in Bangladesh and culminated with a dinner presentation by the Government of Bangladesh. The presentation showcased the initiative the government took to boost growth in its ICT sector under the umbrella of the ‘Digital Bangladesh’ campaign. This ‘Strategic Outreach Program’ was aimed to highlight the Bangladesh ICT industry value proposition to top global companies – specifically in the IT and ITeS sector. It emphasized the rich talent pool, relatively low cost base, rapidly growing IT infrastructure and a strong demographic dividend to create a robust value proposition.

The dinner was presided over by the ICT Secretary, Mr. Subir Kishore Chowdhury, Government of Bangladesh and his team and attended by major IT/ITeS companies from Kolkata. Mr. Debdas Sen, Chairman – Eastern Region, AMCHAM did the introductions and welcomed the delegation. Mr. Subir Kishore Choudhury, Secretary ICT Division gave the keynote address and Mr. Sami Ahmed, Component Team Leader (IT/ITES), LICT Project, made the presentation and Q&A on Digital Bangladesh. The session concluded with a networking session over dinner.
