ICT Committee Meeting

AMCHAM’s ICT Committee held a meeting on June 7th virtually under the leadership of Ms. Bhawna Agarwal, Chairperson – ICT Committee, AMCHAM and Country Head, India – Strategy & Growth, Enterprise Group, Hewlett Packard Enterprise India, to discuss progress and proactive engagement strategies. Ms. Ranjana Khanna, Director General of AMCHAM, provided opening remarks and invited inputs for bi-monthly discussions with Mr. Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary and Mr. Sanket Bhondve, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. Representatives from Apple, Dell, Dua Associates, HPE, HPI, Microsoft, and Palo Alto joined the meeting. The committee discussed three key areas: AI adoption and application, trusted sources, and cyber security. Members deliberated on the EU’s regulatory approach, India’s focus on ethical and responsible AI, and the need for clarity on AI governance and institutions. The committee emphasized a need for continued engagement with both central and state governments to navigate new regulations and foster innovation. On trusted sources, discussions centered around comprehensive data protection, cyber security and establishing a secure telecom supply chain, drawing on global best practices. Additionally, AMCHAM aims to contribute to U.S.-India bilateral discussions on supply chain shifts, exports, and innovation under the iCET framework. Inputs were also sought for labor code exemptions to compile a representation for the government.
