iCET Discussion with Ms. Daniela Medina, Digital Policy Specialist, Office of Digital and Emerging Technology Services, International Trade Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce

The U.S.-India Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET) aims to elevate and expand the technology partnership between the world’s largest democracies, particularly in critical areas such as semiconductor supply chains, defense innovation, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and advanced telecommunications. The synchronization of ICT and defense technologies under iCET creates unprecedented opportunities for both nations. This convergence is especially significant as emerging technologies increasingly play dual roles in civilian and defense applications, making the partnership crucial for both economic growth and national security. In this context, AMCHAM organized a meeting at the American Center in New Delhi on November 20th, bringing together members from its Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Committee and Defense Committee to interact with Ms. Daniela Medina, Digital Policy Specialist, Office of Digital and Emerging Technology Services, ITA, U.S. Department of Commerce. Wg Cdr Rajiv Anand, Senior Director, AMCHAM highlighted the strategic importance of U.S.-India technology collaboration through the iCET framework. Mr. Pranav Mishra, Director, AMCHAM provided insights on India’s evolving ICT landscape, particularly focusing on semiconductor ecosystem development, artificial intelligence initiatives, quantum computing advancements, and 5G/6G telecommunications progress. Members shared valuable perspectives on the implementation of emerging technologies, regulatory frameworks, market opportunities and ease of doing business in the Indian context.
