On October 6th, AMCHAM participated in a virtual meeting to discuss the Draft Telecommunication Bill 2022, organized by Mr. Aamod Omprakash, Cyber and Digital Policy Officer, U.S. Embassy, along with other U.S. industry associations. The discussions revolved around the opportunities and concerns related to the draft bill published. Some of the key points covered included issues in maintaining ‘know your customer’ through a verifiable mode of identification, globalization of standards to enhance EoDB, inclusion of arbitration clause to reduce grievance redressal TAT, OTT licencing issues, etc. Since it is too early to draw any conclusion on the draft bill, the Embassy requested participants to share industry comments after their submission to the ministry.
