Compliance & Integrity Dialogue Series: From AI Adoption to AI Accountability – Strengthening Compliance, Controls & Oversight
AMCHAM, in collaboration with PwC India, continued its six-part Compliance & Integrity Dialogue Series with a session titled ‘From AI Adoption to AI Accountability – Strengthening Compliance, Controls & Oversight’ on March 18th at the PwC office, in Mumbai, bringing together senior compliance leaders, legal experts, and industry practitioners to explore how organizations are transitioning from early AI adoption to building accountable and scalable governance frameworks. The session commenced with a networking lunch, followed by welcome remarks by Mr. Avinash Gupta, Chairman – Western Region, AMCHAM and MD & CEO – India, Dun & Bradstreet, who emphasized the importance of collaborative dialogue in navigating evolving compliance challenges, while Mr. Abhijit Yadav, Partner, PwC India, set the context by highlighting the growing role of AI in reshaping compliance functions and the need to balance innovation with strong oversight. The discussions were structured across three key modules, beginning with practical insights on the use of AI in day-to-day compliance, where speakers shared what is working, what remains manual, and the challenges around data gaps, change management, and user trust. This was followed by a deep dive into AI-driven monitoring, investigations, and enforcement readiness, focusing on continuous monitoring, proactive risk identification, whistleblower triage, and the importance of ensuring evidence defensibility in line with regulatory expectations, and concluded with a forward-looking conversation on governing AI at scale, where the role of boards and management in strengthening oversight, establishing policies, and defining accountability frameworks over the next 24–36 months was emphasized.

The session concluded with an engaging Q&A and reinforced the importance of responsible AI adoption anchored in strong governance, transparency, and cross-functional collaboration.
