On December 6th, AMCHAM members participated in the CDSCO stakeholder consultation meeting, under the Chairmanship of Ms. Deepti Gaur Mukherjee, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health, and Family Welfare, Government of India to discuss issues concerning medical devices and invitro diagnostics regulation in the country and future pathway to have a conducive ecosystem for these sectors. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss with industry any further issues, suggestions, improvements or recommendations, while planning for the implementation mechanism of existing regulations. Legal metrology – seeking exemption from the labelling requirement and seeking amendment in the LM Rule (MRP, consumer care, no manufacturer origin address), conducting state regulators training program, QCO/CRO, harmonization of standards and horizontal standards instead of vertical/product specific standards, etc. were addressed during the meeting.
