On December 10th, AMCHAM’s Electronics Manufacturing Committee sent a representation to Mr. Sunil Barthwal, Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, regarding urgent concerns about the Import Management System (IMS) implementation beyond December 31st, 2024. With pending Standard Operating Procedures and unclear import quotas, U.S. companies face potential supply chain disruptions and customs delays. The representation highlights critical issues including 2-3 weeks lead time requirements, export license concerns, and the need for specialized server exceptions. AMCHAM requested immediate dialogue to prevent inventory management disruptions and revenue impacts.
