AMCHAM recommendations on Global Value Chains and Clean Economy under Pillar II & Pillar III of IPEF Agreement

AMCHAM has presented recommendations for the Government of India to consider as part of its involvement in IPEF. In the realm of Supply Chain, these proposals include reducing trade barriers, streamlining customs procedures, and encouraging investments in infrastructure and technology. A dedicated initiative for semiconductor equipment manufacturing is suggested, along with incentives to attract global value chains. In the Clean Economy pillar, the focus is on clean energy technology, electrification, and carbon pricing. The industry and transport sectors are urged to adopt greenhouse gas-reducing technologies, and incentives are proposed for a cleaner economy, including strengthening demand-side measures and carbon markets. Cooperation, capacity building, and emissions disclosure are emphasized throughout.
