AMCHAM’s Director General CEO, Ms. Ranjana Khanna, accompanied by the Chairs of the Agriculture and Food Processing Committee met the new Minister Counselor for Agricultural Affairs, U.S. Embassy, Ms. Jeanne Bailey, and her team members, Mr. Mark Wallace, Mr. Santosh Singh and Ms. Tiffany Landry, on May 14th, 2018. Mr. Siraj Azmat Chaudhry, Chairman – Agriculture and Food Processing Committee, AMCHAM and Chairman, Cargill India, outlined the view the Indian Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Food Processing held about U.S. companies in India. Mr. Raju Kapoor, Co-Chairman – Agriculture and Food Processing Committee, AMCHAM and Director, Corteva Agro Sciences, spoke about the need to protect IPR for U.S. companies and also the need to streamline regulations between Indian Union and state governments. Ms. Neelima Dwivedi, Co-Chairperson – Agriculture and Food Processing Committee, AMCHAM and Vice-President, Public Policy, Government Affairs and Sustainability, Pepsico, underlined the need to rationalize regulations on packaging and import duties for processed food raw material. AMCHAM re-iterated the need for a sustained communication campaign to highlight the good work that can be brought into India by U.S. companies for the benefit of Indian farmers. It was decided to invite the U.S. Embassy team to the next committee meeting.
