Recommendations on Draft Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (Karnataka) Rules, 2026

AMCHAM submitted suggestions to the Department of Labour, Government of Karnataka, on the Draft OSH and Working Conditions (Karnataka) Rules, 2026. The recommendations cover definition and publication of designated, licensing and competent authorities, transparent criteria for approvals, registration and licensing, review of overlapping registration and medical examination requirements, a simpler process for constituting Safety Committees, flexibility in working hours and night shift arrangements, and clarity on “core activity,” contract labour continuity and exemptions under sections 57, 58, 127 and 128.
