Labour Codes – Reassess. Realign. Act.

AMCHAM’s Western Region, in collaboration with KPMG in India organized a roundtable session titled ‘Labour Codes – Reassess. Realign. Act.’ on December 12th at the KPMG office in Pune. The session brought together senior representatives from member companies across HR, legal, compliance, finance, and operations functions to deliberate on the implications of India’s newly notified labour codes and the actions required by employers to ensure readiness and compliance. The program commenced with arrival and networking, followed by opening remarks of Ms. Rakhi Sikka, Regional Director – Western Region, AMCHAM, who highlighted the importance of industry preparedness and AMCHAM’s role in facilitating informed dialogue on policy developments impacting businesses. This was followed by setting the context by Mr. Juzer Miyajiwala, Office Managing Partner – Pune, KPMG in India, who spoke on the significance of the labour codes in reshaping India’s employment framework and the need for organizations to reassess existing structures and realign policies. The session then featured a detailed presentation by Mr. Chandrashekhar Patel, Chartered Accountant, who provided an in-depth overview of the key provisions under the four labour codes, areas of impact on wages, social security, industrial relations, and occupational safety, and the practical steps organizations must undertake to prepare for implementation.

 

This was followed by an interactive roundtable discussion and open house, moderated by KPMG in India, which enabled participants to engage directly with the experts, seek clarifications, and share organization-specific challenges and perspectives. The session concluded with closing remarks by Mr. Akash Arora, Chartered Accountant, who summarized the key takeaways and emphasized the importance of timely internal assessments, cross-functional coordination, and continuous tracking of state-level developments. The roundtable concluded with a networking lunch, providing an opportunity for participants to continue discussions and exchange insights.
