12th Anti-Corruption Compliance and Risk Management Masterclass AImpact: Risk, Rules and Responsibilities

AMCHAM’s Ethics & Compliance Committee organized the 12th Anti-Corruption Compliance and Risk Management Masterclass on September 30th , 2025 at Four Seasons Hotel, Mumbai. The theme of the edition was ‘AImpact: Risk, Rules, and Responsibilities’ which explored the evolving intersection of artificial intelligence and compliance.

Mr. Avinash Gupta, Chairperson – Western Region, AMCHAM & Managing Director & CEO, Dun & Bradstreet gave the welcome remarks. He talked about the 4T’s – trade and tariffs, technology, treasury and taxation. Mr. Gaurav Ajmani, Chairperson – Ethics & Compliance Committee, AMCHAM and Associate General Counsel: Compliance, Amazon and Ms. Bhawna Ranganadhan, Co-Chairperson – Ethics & Compliance Committee, AMCHAM and Sr. Vice President & Deputy General Counsel, Legal Compliance, Genpact set the scene for the masterclass. They gave an overview of the Ethics & Compliance Committee, its functioning, initiatives and future plans. They also covered the necessity of having a combined approach of human intervention and technology in compliance and legal vertical for the most efficient and effective results.

The opening session on ‘How has the Risk Landscape Evolved and What Role will AI Play in Prevention, Detection and Remediation’ was conducted by Mr. Vasu Muthyala, Partner, Clifford Chance. In this session practical aspects around potential new world order, changes in job market pertaining to advent of AI, use of new technology in conducting sophisticated frauds and AI as a super stimulant were discussed.

The second session on ‘From Checklist to Automation: How AI is Redefining Compliance’ focused on the evolution of the compliance vertical from pure manual tasks to the integration of technology into legal and compliance vertical. As deliberated, it is still a grey area and compliance professionals are yet deciphering on use of emerging tech and AI. The speakers sensitised the audience about the usage of technology, red flags, benefits, and the outlook. The panel featured Mr. Surender Sharma, Whole-time Director-Legal & Company Secretary, Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited (CPIL), Mr. Saurabh Khosla, Partner – Forensic & Financial Crime, Strategy, Risk & Transactions, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP and Mr. Sachin Yadav, Partner – Forensic & Financial Crime, Strategy, Risk & Transactions, Deloitte India.

The third session was a panel discussion on ‘Changing Dynamics of Fraud Investigations with Technology Innovation.’ Panelists included Ms. Piya Haldar, Co-Chairperson – Ethics & Compliance Committee, AMCHAM & Chief Compliance Officer, Honeywell India, Mr. Ankoosh K. Mehta, Partner (Co-Head – White Collar & Investigations), Dispute Resolution & White-Collar Crime, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Ms. Vidhi Maniyar, Ethics and Compliance Officer, India Medtronic, Mr. Abhishek Pareek, Group Head – Finance, Waaree Group and Mr. Vicky Gala, Associate Managing Director, Investigations, Diligence and Compliance, Kroll as the moderator. The panel shared their views on the evolving nature of financial crime, emerging role of technology in investigations and how technology has become both the weapon and the battlefield.

Session four on ‘AI vs Human Judgement: Future of Compliance in Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM)’ was an industry panel featuring Mr. Gaurav Ajmani, Chairperson – Ethics & Compliance Committee, AMCHAM and Associate General Counsel: Compliance, Amazon, Ms. Bhawna Ranganadhan, Co-Chairperson – Ethics & Compliance Committee, AMCHAM and Sr. Vice President & Deputy General Counsel, Legal Compliance, Genpact, Mr. Jinendra Shah, Director, Compliance and Operational Risk, Bank of America, Mr. Vivek Rawal, Risk Management & Digital Compliance Lead, Pfizer Limited and Mr. K.V. Karthik, Partner and Leader – Forensic & Financial Crime, Strategy, Risk & Transactions, Deloitte India as the moderator. The panel discussed how AI can help streamline various stages of TPRM while ensuring due diligence. The panel also shared use cases and their respective
industry experiences around implementation of AI. The panelists also shared red and green flags on how professionals can strike the right balance between AI-driven insights and human judgment.

The last session on ‘Current Risk Landscape: What U.S. Companies Growing in India Need to Know About U.S. and Indian Regulatory Trends’ had legal experts Mr. Priyank Ladoia, Partner, AZB & Partners, Mr. Raghav Seth, Partner, AZB & Partners, Mr. Vasu Muthyala, Partner, Clifford Chance and Mr. Kabir Singh, Partner, Clifford Chance talking about the evolving U.S. regulatory risk landscape, the Indian legal landscape and how the two are intersecting with a focus on case studies and use cases.

Ms. Piya Haldar, Co-Chairperson – Ethics & Compliance Committee, AMCHAM and Chief Compliance Officer, Honeywell India gave the concluding remarks. The event was supported by Clifford Chance, AZB & Partners, Deloitte and Kroll.
