AMCHAM members from the healthcare sector met with Mr. Apurva Chandra, Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India on March 27th at his office in New Delhi. During the meeting, members addressed the existing policy and regulatory framework pertaining to the MedTech and pharma sectors. Participants discussed the New Drugs, Medical Device & Cosmetic Bill 2022, regulatory harmonization, Drugs and Magic Remedy Bill, National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM), legal metrology exemption for devices, GTE inclusion/exclusion process, PCPNDT Act, QCO, QCIMED and import of preowned equipment of high-end high value medical devices, among other topics. Ms. Ranjana Khanna, Director General CEO, AMCHAM, extended an invitation to the Secretary and requested his presence for the 2nd Healthcare Summit: Accelerating Accessible Healthcare: Technology Transformation on July 16th in New Delhi.
