Meeting with Ms. Neema Singh Guliani, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Services, Industry and Analysis, International Trade Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce – 26 February 2024
On February 26th, AMCHAM’s Supply Chain & Logistics Committee organized a hybrid interaction with Ms. Neema Singh Guliani, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Services, Industry and Analysis, International Trade Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce to discuss pertinent supply chain issues faced by U.S. companies operating in India. Mr. Jim Cramer, International Trade Specialist, ITA, U.S. Department of Commerce and Ms. Durra Elmaki, Commercial Attaché, U.S. Embassy joined the meeting. Mr. Praveen Gosain, Chairman – Supply Chain & Logistics Committee, AMCHAM and Senior Director of Supply Chain & Business Transformation, Corning Technologies India provided an overview of the supply chain and logistics sector in the country and outlined key initiatives of the committee, particularly focusing on sustainability and security concerns.
Deputy Assistant Secretary Neema Guliani emphasized the critical role of supply chains in sustaining business operations and fostering economic growth in the global commerce landscape. She acknowledged the multifaceted challenges faced by industry and highlighted the existence of a dedicated team utilizing AI to streamline supply chain processes. She encouraged the chamber to communicate any issues related to cold chain management that the government or her team could address. Members from various sectors shared about regulatory hurdles, infrastructure constraints, land acquisition, documentation procedures, fluctuating trade dynamics, digitization, cybersecurity, risk management, and accountability.
