Request for consideration: Draft Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules, 2022 (“Amended Rules”) dated January 18th 2022

The Energy Committee at AMCHAM made a representation to the Chairman of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on 9th March 2022, with a request for consideration of key concerns on Draft Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules, 2022 (“Amended Rules”) dated January 18th, 2022. These included challenges and suggested recommendations related to definitions & registration requirements introduced in the draft notification, clarifications on marking and labelling requirements, recommendation on compliance timelines and recommendations towards graded penalty & appeal structure towards environmental compensation
