The 2nd meeting of the National Medical Devices Promotion Council was held under the Chairmanship of the Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals on May 25th at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi. Mr. Sudhakar Mairpadi, Director Regulatory and Government Affairs India/South Asia, BD and Ms. Tanu Arora, Sr. Compliance Office, APAC, Stryker represented AMCHAM in this meeting. Various policy and regulatory concerns were discussed. Updates were shared by CDSCO regarding the exemption of licensed manufacturers of medical devices from the Legal Metrology Rules 2011, the licenses granted by SLAs for class-A and class-B medical devices and redressal of the issues thereon including preparations for licensing of class C and D medical devices w.e.f October 1st, 2023. An update by GeM on the present status of registration of medical devices was also discussed in the meeting.
