U.S. – India Aviation Summit 2018 – 8th – 11th May 2018

AMCHAM was a supporting partner of the 6th edition of U.S. – India Aviation Summit held on May 8th-11th in Mumbai. The summit was jointly organized by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA). The summit format had government-to-government meetings and topic-based specific sessions and seminars. Various announcements of U.S. – India partnerships were made including a contract signing between the Airports Authority of India and Harris Corporation worth INR 9.45 billion to assist in the modernization of India’s communications infrastructure for air traffic management, a necessity to keep pace with growth. Another contract was signed between Smith Detection and Airports Authority of India for $50 million, to install and integrate high-speed explosives detection systems for check-in luggage screening at eleven sites across nine airports.

Ms. Ranjana Khanna, Director General CEO, AMCHAM and Ms. Udaya Arun, Director – Aerospace & Defense, AMCHAM, met with the Chairman of Airports Authority of India, Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra, for a one-on-one engagement to discuss collaborations with AMCHAM’s Civil Aviation Committee in the coming months.
