Roundtable on ‘30 Days Of The GST Regime’ – 2nd August 2017

AMCHAM India, in partnership with EY India, organised a roundtable on ‘30 Days Of The GST Regime’ on Wednesday, 2nd August 2017 in Mumbai. Ms. Surabhi Wahal, Regional Director – Western Region, AMCHAM, made the opening remarks and gave brief introductions of the panel speakers. This was followed by a special address by Mr. Gregory Taevs, Principal Commercial Officer, U.S. Consulate General, Mumbai. Mr. Taevs shared the news of the arrival of the new U.S. Consul General in Mumbai, Mr. Edgard Kagen and stated that Consul General Kagen has joined office starting 1st August 2017. Mr. Hitesh Sharma, a member of AMCHAM’s Western Region Committee and Partner, National Head of Life Science Industry, EY India, welcomed the participants and set the stage for this important topic.

Experts from EY, Mr. Divyesh Lapsiwala, Tax Partner – Indirect Tax Services, EY India and Mr. Sanket Desai, Director- Indirect Taxes, EY India, shared valuable insights on sector specific implications, challenges and the impact that GST has had on businesses and industries since its levy on 1st July. The speakers also shed light on the action plan that companies should be ready with for the next 30-60-90 days of the GST regime. An engaging Q&A session followed.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Matthew Timmons, a member of AMCHAM’s Western Region Committee & Managing Director – South Asia, Lubrizol Advanced Materials India Pvt. Ltd. The event was hosted by EY India.
