Pharmaceuticals Committee

AMCHAM’s Pharmaceuticals Committee serves as a collaborative platform for U.S.-connected pharmaceutical companies in India to engage constructively with the Government of India, non-governmental organizations, and other key stakeholders across the healthcare ecosystem. The committee is committed to improving health outcomes and enhancing the quality of life of the Indian population by supporting the discovery, development, and availability of safe, effective, affordable, and high-quality medicines. The committee’s engagement includes continuous dialogue on the regulatory and policy environment for the pharmaceutical sector in India, with a view to enabling timely patient access to innovative and life-saving therapies.

Uniform Code for Pharmaceutical Marketing Practices (UCPMP): The UCPMP is a voluntary code, with disclosures and uploads being undertaken at the behest of the Government of India. The committee remains actively engaged in discussions with the government on the evolving provisions of the code, with the objective of supporting ethical, transparent, and responsible industry practices, while ensuring that regulatory frameworks remain practical and innovation friendly.
