AMCHAM’s secretariat, along with members of the medical devices industry attended a meeting with Mr. Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Railways and Commerce & Industry, on July 10th in New Delhi. The meeting agenda was to discuss the resolution of the major stent and ortho industry issues. Members pointed out to the Minister the current situation of the MedTech industry with regard to the current price caps on stents and knee implants, how business is not viable and that many new technologies were not being introduced in India due to the price caps. Minister Goyal asked AMCHAM to send recommendations on issues discussed to the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) and Department of Pharmaceuticals and also mark a copy of the same to him. He asked members to finalize the suggestions and present a resolution to industry challenges
