AMCHAM’s Energy Committee members met with Dr. V.K. Saraswat, Member, Niti Aayog, Government of India at his office on February 22nd. Discussions were held around the emerging opportunities for members in the areas of carbon capture, utilization and storage, hydrogen, biofuels and compressed bio gas and energy efficiency in commercial buildings. Mr. Anil Bhatia, Chairman – Energy Committee, AMCHAM and Vice President and Managing Director, Emerson India initiated the discussions and spoke about the areas that U.S. industry can contribute for supporting the Government of India’s energy transition plans. Mr. Sundaresan Narayanan, Co-Chairman – Energy Committee, AMCHAM and Managing Director, Carrier India highlighted some of the concerns faced by industry. Addressing members, Dr. Saraswat spoke about the need for industry participation and engagement with specific Ministries to initiate action in the CCUS field, the government’s upcoming Carbon Credits Policy and the status of hydrogen adoption in India. Representatives from Dastur Energy, Baker Hughes India, ExxonMobil Gas (India) Pvt. Ltd., John Crane, Honeywell India and Rockwell Automation participated in the meeting.
