Interaction with Mr. Arun Venkataraman, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets & Director General of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service, ITA, U.S. Department of Commerce – 17 January 2023

AMCHAM hosted a closed-door interaction with Mr. Arun Venkataraman, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets, and Director General of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service, Global Markets, International Trade Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce with U.S. industry leadership on January 17th in New Delhi. Ms. Ranjana Khanna, Director General CEO, AMCHAM welcomed Assistant Secretary Arun Venkataraman. Mr. Salil Gupte, Immediate Past Chairman, AMCHAM and President, Boeing India gave brief opening remarks highlighting ways to achieve long-term supply chain resilience. Senior leaders from U.S. industry representing a variety of sectors shared their perspectives on the commercial opportunities and challenges U.S. companies face in India. The discussion highlighted the global supply chain, the QUAD, friend-shoring, foundational defense agreements, skilling, ideas for enhancing India’s telecommunications and electronic manufacturing sectors, unpredictable tax regimes, pros and cons of production linked incentives and hurdles to new investments, among other topics.
