Industry Interaction with the Government of Bangladesh and U.S. Embassy on IPR Border Enforcement – 17 September 2020

AMCHAM, in collaboration with USPTO, organized an industry interaction with Customs Bangladesh and the U.S. Embassy on IPR border enforcement on September 17th. This workshop was organized keeping in mind the ongoing healthcare, agriculture and food processing and apparel sector issues. The session provided an overview of the U.S. enforcement regime, an overview of Bangladesh’s current system and a platform to share identification techniques by brand owners. The program also provided government officials the opportunity to engage in information exchange, including best practices relating to intellectual property enforcement. During the meeting members interacted with officials and set the foundation for future collaboration between the respective agencies on enforcement and other important IPR issues in Bangladesh. Mr. John Cabeca, U.S. Intellectual Property (IP) Attaché for South Asia, U.S. Embassy (New Delhi) and Ms. Ranjana Khanna, Director General CEO, AMCHAM shared their inputs and thanked members for their valuable inputs.
