India 2030: The Role of Supercomputing – 6 April 2022

The ICT Committee of AMCHAM organized a webinar on ‘India 2030: The Role of Supercomputing’ on April 6th. Mr. Ankur Malhotra, Co-Chairman – CSR Committee, AMCHAM and Head Corporate Affairs and CSR, Hewlett Packard Enterprise India, welcomed all participants and mentioned that India is aiming to become the third largest economy by 2030. With the possibility of more than a billion Indians having access to the internet by 2030, and supercomputers would be the tools to achieve the targets mentioned. Col. A. K. Nath (Retd.) Director General, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), Government of India, cited the use case scenario of supercomputers and mentioned that supercomputers are boosting electronics manufacturing under the umbrella of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ in India. Other dignitaries who deliberated their perspectives at the event were Dr. D. Preveen Kumar, Scientist-G, National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF), Ministry of Earth Sciences, Mr. Ranganath Sadasiva, Chief Technical Officer, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Dr. Kalyan Netti, Senior Principal Scientist (Scientist-F), Head-IT and Data Centre Division, CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute, Dr. Sandeep Chandran, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, Indian Institute of Technology, Palakkad, Ministry of Education, Government of India and Dr. Pabitra Mitra, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, Ministry of Education, Government of India.
