Global Procurement Initiative – Industry Roundtable – 23rd April 2018
As a precursor to USTDA’s workshop focussing on training 75 officials from the Government of Maharashtra, AMCHAM India in partnership with the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, organized ‘Global Procurement Initiative – Industry Roundtable’ on Monday, 23rd April 2018 in Mumbai.
The morning began with welcome remarks by Ms. Surabhi Wahal, Regional Director – Western Region, AMCHAM. With brief remarks on USTDA’s presence, projects and initiatives in global procurement, Ms. Andrea Lupo, Director for Global Programs, USTDA, set the tone for the discussion. She carried on with an introduction to the workshop instructors – Mr. Steven Schooner, Professor of Government Procurement Law, George Washington University Law School, Mr. Robert Kwartin, Vice President and Director, Energy Consulting, ICF International and Mr. Scott Borges, Senior Project Manager, Kimley – Horn. This was followed by remarks by Ms. Mehnaz Ansari, USTDA Country Representative – South Asia, as well as remarks by Mr. Gregory Taevs, Principal Commercial Officer, U.S. Consulate General, Mumbai.
In an informal interactive discussion, representatives of AMCHAM member companies shared their inputs on challenges and opportunities in the Indian procurement scenario. The roundtable concluded with closing remarks and vote of thanks by Mr. Hitesh Sharma, Partner, National Head of Life Science Industry, EY India.
