AMCHAM’s Eastern Region organized a visa session with U.S. Consulate General officials on November 21st at the Deloitte office in Kolkata. Ms. Anne Vasquez, Consular Section Chief, U.S. Consulate General Kolkata, and Mr. Eric Chu, Chief/Non-Immigrant Visas, U.S. Consulate General Kolkata provided an overview of recent trends in the U.S. visa processing system. They explained to members the different types of visas that were issued daily and the importance of the applicants matching the fit. The backlog of visa issuance was addressed in detail. This interactive session helped member companies understand the processing system and gave them the opportunity to interact on specific issues pertaining to their organizations. Ms. Vasquez and her team addressed all the queries that member companies had. Mr. Joydeep Datta Gupta, Vice Chairman – Eastern Region, AMCHAM and Partner, Deloitte Touché Tohmatsu India LLP gave the welcome address. Ms. Amada Kidwai, Regional Director – Eastern Region, AMCHAM did the introductions and Mr. Abir Chattaraj, Eastern Region Executive Committee Member, AMCHAM and Principal Counsel, Legal and Corporate Affairs, ARC Document Solutions India Pvt Ltd. gave the concluding remarks and vote of thanks.
