AMCHAM supported the business roundtable hosted by U.S. Embassy for the U.S. Secretary of Energy, Mr. Rick Perry on 16th April, 2018 in New Delhi. The roundtable participants included U.S. industry along with U.S. government officials. Welcome remarks were given by Ambassador Kenneth I. Juster. Secretary Rick Perry, in his opening remarks, talked about expanding the U.S. – India energy partnership through energy innovation and also emphasized that the U.S. was keen to cooperate with India in all forms of energy including nuclear, coal, oil and gas.

Moderator Mr. Robert Garverick, Minister Counselor Economic Affairs and Environment, Science and Technology, U.S. Embassy, commenced the roundtable discussion and invited representatives from industry to present an overview on the opportunities and challenges that U.S. companies face in India and how it hinders the expansion of this partnership. Issues such as availability of power, oil pricing, regulatory issues and procurement processes were also discussed.
