The Anti-Corruption & FCPA Compliance Committee organized the first session of it’s 7th Anti-Corruption Compliance and Risk Management Master on August 13th. The theme of the session was ‘COVID & Its Impact.’ Ms. Ranjana Khanna, Director General CEO, AMCHAM, welcomed participants. In her address she spoke about the adverse impact of COVID on global economies and how it has become more important to have a stringent system to control the increasing frauds and scandals. Mr. Gaurav Ajmani, Chairman – Anti-Corruption & FCPA Compliance Committee, AMCHAM and Associate General Counsel, Business Conduct & Ethics, Amazon Seller Services, introduced the theme and gave an overview of the entire series. The first panel discussion was on ‘How COVID Impacted Third Party Risks – An Industry Perspective.’ It was moderated by Ms. Swati Sharma, Sr. Counsel, BAE Systems India (Services) Private Limited and the panelists were Ms. Archana Sasan, Vice President (Legal & Ethics), Dell Technologies and Dr. Simrat Sohal, Associate Director, Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD).

The panel discussed the impact of COVID on their operations, change in nature of government interactions, ABC risks and internal risks. It was followed by the second panel discussion on ‘Best Practices to Address Third Party Risks in a Post COVID World’ by Mr. Vasu Muthyala, White-Collar, Corporate & Individual Investigations and Enforcement Partner, Kobre & Kim, Ms. Mini vandePol, Asia Pacific Head, Compliance and Investigations, Baker & McKenzie and Mr. Sunny Mann, Compliance and Investigations Partner, Baker & McKenzie. They gave a detailed presentation covering challenges related to the coronavirus crisis, third parties’ risks, its management and due diligence. The session concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Gaurav Ajmani and Ms. Bhawna A. Ranganadhan, Co-Chairperson – Anti-Corruption & FCPA Compliance Committee, AMCHAM and Vice President, Legal and Compliance, Genpact.
