AMCHAM’s Western Region organized a welcome reception for newly appointed Mr. Yuriy R. Fedi, Consul General, U.S. Consulate General Mumbai on October 13th hosted at the office of Bank of America in Mumbai. The roundtable brought together CEOs and senior leaders of American companies operating across western India, along with senior officials from the U.S. Consulate General. Ms. Kaku Nakhate, National Executive Member, AMCHAM and Chair, India, Boffa Securities India Ltd., opened the session by welcoming the Consul General and members to Bank of America. Mr. Siddhartha Ghosal, Chairman – Western Region, AMCHAM and CEO and Country President, Dow India, formally welcomed Consul General Fedi. He described the strong presence of American businesses in the region and the important moment for the U.S.–India economic partnership. He also gave an overview of AMCHAM’s key initiatives in the region including its structured dialogue with the Government of Maharashtra, the upcoming signature conference on November 18th, new platforms on chemicals and industry–academia collaboration, and the recently launched BFSI Committee of AMCHAM. Consul General Fedi spoke about his priorities for deepening commercial ties between the United States and western India, and the role the business community can play in that effort. The open and engaging interaction that followed was moderated by Ms. Nakhate. Member companies introduced their organizations and shared their experience of doing business in India. The discussion covered emerging investment opportunities in sectors such as digital infrastructure, financial services, healthcare, and clean energy. Members also talked about ways to strengthen engagement between U.S. companies and the state government, and the importance of talent and innovation partnerships. Members valued the chance to engage directly with the Consul General and the session reaffirmed the close partnership between AMCHAM and the U.S. Consulate General Mumbai.
