U.S.-India Fast Track Mechanism Meeting

The 9th meeting of the U.S.-India Fast Track Mechanism was held on June 17th under the Co-Chairpersonship of Ms. Himani Pande, Additional Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India and Mr. Jonathan Heimer, Honorary National Executive Board Member, AMCHAM and Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs, U.S. Embassy, in New Delhi. In the agenda, amongst other items, were challenges raised by AMCHAM members MSD Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., Emerson Process Management India, Eli Lilly and Company (India) Pvt. Ltd. and GE Healthcare, in which representatives from each company, except GE Healthcare, presented their concerns. Discussion was held on pharmaceutical approval timelines regarding clarity on applications submitted to CDSCO via SUGAM, MeitY QCOs and pending BIS approvals in critical components like VDUs and batteries essential in ultrasound and anaesthesia equipment, TMRs in Patient Assistance Programs, and the outstanding Emerson issue of provision by CBIC of investigation reports by the SVB. Consequent to the discussions, the Additional Secretary advised next steps for each of the items towards a speedy settlement. AMCHAM was represented by Wg Cdr Rajiv Anand, Senior Director.
