Smart Infrastructure for Mumbai – 12th May 2015

AmCham’s Smart Infrastructure Consortium organized a half day round table program on Smart Infrastructure for Mumbai, on May 12 at Mumbai. The event was presented in two panel discussions covering Urban infrastructure development (for Mumbai) and Digital India. The focus of the discussions was to help the city of Mumbai to effectively address urban planning issues and concerns and explore smart technological solutions offered by US industry for Smart city parameters of Smart Urban Mobility, Environment Sustainability of Smart Cities & models of public-private partnerships, and Financing of Smart Cities. The industry side was represented by leading US companies such as IBM, UTC, Emerson, GE, Ingersoll Rand, UL, Xylem Inc, Walter P Moore, 3M etc. The technology solutions presented by the participating companies could help city operators to improve infrastructure operations by making cities more livable and inclusive and to drive economic growth.

The Digital India discussion focused on possible ICT interventions and the role of ICT in developing smart cities, and categorizing ways and means to make relevant ICT interventions that enable future smart cities by sharing information in real time across agencies and systems. ICT for Smart cities can help provide an integrated perspective across the key pillars of physical infrastructure, social infrastructure, environmental and institutional (governance). The discussion was moderated by Mr. Sriharsha Narasimhan, CTO, Future Cities, HP. KPMG provided content support for the program.
