AMCHAM’s Eastern Region organized a session on visa challenges with officials from the U.S. Consulate General Kolkata on April 23rd at the American Center, Kolkata. Officials from the visa section of the U.S. Consulate had a candid discussion with participants about the long waiting period for interview appointments and expiry of visa fees, among other topics. The provision of ‘Expedited Appointment Requests’ and applicability was discussed in detail. Since the Customer Service Center of the Visa Section has recently migrated to a new platform, members were briefed about the new system and provided updates in the visa application procedure. The interactive session was informative and Consular officials provided clarity to members’ questions.
