AMCHAM, on December 2nd, requested the Department of Industrial Promotion and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, to consider including brand owners as Class-II local suppliers under the public procurement scheme when they manufacture through PLI-registered contract manufacturers. The request aims to align with FDI Policy’s recognition of contract manufacturing and strengthen the PLI scheme’s effectiveness.
