Meeting with Mr. Vumlunmang Vualnam, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India
On April 24th, AMCHAM leadership met with Mr. Vumlunmang Vualnam, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India to discuss U.S.-India aviation cooperation. Ms. Ranjana Khanna, Director General CEO, AMCHAM, Mr. Salil Gupte, Vice Chairman, AMCHAM and President, Boeing India & South Asia and Mr. Samit Ray, Co-Chairman – Defense Committee, AMCHAM and Deputy Vice President – Government Affairs & Public Policy South Asia, RTX addressed several key areas such as upcoming summits in Bhutan (ICAO) and Bali that offer opportunities for MOCA and DGCA to engage with FAA counterparts. Challenges faced by MRO companies (taxes, regulations, etc.) and proposed solutions like streamlined licensing were discussed. Updates were shared on Boeing’s freight converter line (GMR) by year-end and RTX’s MRO venture with Max Aerospace (Q1 2025). The importance of increasing FAA-DGCA collaboration, including leasing company certification was mentioned. AMCHAM would share a whitepaper on the role of U.S. industry in addressing aviation cyber security in India.
