On November 6th, AMCHAM’s Defense Committee members called upon Mr. T. Natarajan, Additional Secretary, Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Ms. Udaya Arun, Director, AMCHAM opened up the interaction with a brief on the AMCHAM capability document ‘U.S.-India Defence Partnership: Co-Production & Co-Development.’ The U.S. defense industry in India supports over 28,000 direct jobs and provides gainful employment for an additional 20,000 people. Overall they also support in bringing improvement in quality of life for over 2.6 million people through multiple initiatives. Mr. Alain Garcia, Chairman – Defense Committee, AMCHAM and Vice President – Global Business Development India, Boeing India Defense Pvt. Ltd. shared a copy of the document. Mr. Samit Ray, Co-Chairman – Defense Committee, AMCHAM and Deputy Vice President, Govt. Affairs & Public Policy South Asia, Raytheon Technologies Corporation, Ms. Ashmita Sethi, Chairperson – Aviation Committee, AMCHAM and President & Country Head, Pratt & Whitney India and others raised pertinent and current issues covering the need for standardization, ease of doing business, challenges under MRO and PLI schemes, and building up a cohesive life cycle covering acquisition and sustenance. AMCHAM requested for a de-brief post the upcoming 2+2 dialogue and sought more clarity of dates and venue for DefExpo 2024.
