AMCHAM’s Electronic Manufacturing Committee met with Mr. Sushil Pal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India on October 28th. Representatives from Advanced Micro Devices, Dell, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and HP Inc. joined the meeting. Amongst discussion points, three key issues were discussed: 1) proposed amendments to the Public Procurement Order (PPO), 2) concerns were raised about the Department of Telecommunication’s rushed approach to COMSEC, WiFi, and access point regulations and 3) Import Management System (IMS). The Joint Secretary assured support from the Ministry to help resolve COMSEC and dual certification with the Department of Telecom. The IMS issue would be taken up in a larger ministry meeting post Diwali.
