On August 21st, select members from AMCHAM’s Defense Committee met with Mr. Satyajit Mohanty, Joint Secretary (Armed Forces and Policy), Department of Defence, Ministry of Defence, Government of India in New Delhi. Ms. Udaya Arun, Director, AMCHAM thanked the Joint Secretary for his time in his new role after his previous role as Joint Secretary at National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS). Mr. Alain Garcia, Chairman – Defense Committee, AMCHAM and Vice President, Global Business Development – India, Boeing Defense Space & Security gave a brief overview of the defense sector and invited others to provide inputs. He also gave a brief on the MRO sector in India including the taxation structure. Mr. Samit Ray, Co-Chairman – Defense Committee, AMCHAM and Regional Director Government Affairs & Public Policy, Raytheon Technologies Corporation requested clarity on other points covering iCET identified programs and clarity regarding their signalling and achievement. AMCHAM requested the Joint Secretary to expedite a private industry sharable document, ‘Roadmap for U.S. – India Defense Industrial Cooperation.’
