Meeting with Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, Secretary Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, Government of India
On April 10th, AMCHAM’s Defense Committee met with Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, Secretary Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, Government of India and his team comprising of Mr. Dinesh Mahur, Additional Secretary, Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence and Mr. Chandandeep Singh, DDG AI, Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence. Mr. Alay Parikh, Chairman – Defense Committee, AMCHAM and Vice President, International Business Development, Boeing India, Mr. Samit Ray, Co-Chairman – Defense Committee, AMCHAM and Deputy Vice President, Government Affairs, Raytheon Technologies, Mr. Salil Gupte, Past Chairman, AMCHAM and President, Boeing India & South Asia, Mr. Amitabh Ghosal, Vice President India Operations, L3Harris Technologies, Mr. Parag Sehgal, Director – International Business Development, Lockheed Martin India, Mr. Sanjeev Trehan, Director Defence & Aerospace, Trimble India, Mr. Manan Asri, Director, Defense & Aerospace, KPMG, Mr. Avik Singh, Executive, Global Government Relations, Raytheon Technologies, Ms. Ranjana Khanna, Director General CEO, AMCHAM and Wg Cdr Rajiv Anand, Senior Director, AMCHAM were present. Members had in-depth discussions on various issues of U.S.-India defense cooperation as well as defense industrial co-development and co-production such as indigenous content (IC) requirements, implications of DAP 2026 for foreign OEMs, recognition of capability investments in IC calculations, and support mechanisms for ‘Make in India’ programs, amongst others. It was decided to submit focussed feedback on some points such as NavIC Restricted Service (RS) Access, issues concerning Technical Assistance Agreements (TAA), import of raw materials in IC calculations, export of parts under contracts for IC recognition, realistic IC thresholds in DAP and recognition of skill development as IC, for consideration of the Ministry of Defence.
