On April 22nd, AMCHAM leadership met with Mr. Giridhar Aramane, Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Government of India to discuss deepening ties in U.S.-India defense cooperation. Ms. Ranjana Khanna, Director General CEO, AMCHAM shared AMCHAM’s previous reports on co-development, co-production and defense exports. The updated document would be released in August at AMCHAM’s AGM. Discussions focused on improving the defense supply chain, Boeing’s collaboration with MIDHANI on raw materials and Jindal emerging as a potential supplier for critical materials, like titanium.

Mr. Alain Garcia, Chairman – Defense Committee, AMCHAM and Vice President – Global Business Development India, Boeing India Defense Pvt. Ltd. shared updates on specific defense acquisition plans and requested for swift action on contract amendments for Apache helicopters to avoid delays. Mr. Samit Ray, Co-Chairman – Defense Committee, AMCHAM and Deputy Vice President – Government Affairs & Public Policy South Asia, RTX  mentioned the challenges in MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) and proposed solutions to streamline regulations and create a more viable MRO ecosystem.
