On May 22^nd, AMCHAM’s aerospace and defense delegates joining the annual door knock to Washington DC met with CAPT Chad Gagnon, Chief, Office of Defense Cooperation, U.S. Embassy, to discuss potential meetings with various departments and agencies. Ms. Udaya Arun, Director, AMCHAM welcomed members and shared updates on the status of meeting requests with the Pentagon including U.S. Army, OSD and NIPO and the Bureau of Pol-Mil Affairs at the State Department. CAPT Gagnon expressed his enthusiasm and shared his perspective on potential meetings. Members deliberated on key messaging to be consistent at each office specifically regarding co-production, transfer of technology, weapons, MRO, licensing, ITAR, etc. Mr. Alain Garcia, Chairman – Defense Committee, AMCHAM and Vice President, Global Business Development – India, Boeing Defense India, shared his experience from the previous door knock and how the messaging could be streamlined to be more efficient this year.
