Interaction with Mr. Vishwesh Negi, Joint Secretary (International Cooperation), Ministry of Defence, Government of India

On May 7th, Mr. Vishwesh Negi, Joint Secretary (International Cooperation) Ministry of Defence, Government of India and Col. Shailender Arya, Advisor to Department of Defence, Ministry of Defence, Government of India met with AMCHAM’s Defense Committee members to discuss the challenges and opportunities related to U.S.-India defense cooperation. Ms. Ranjana Khanna, Director General CEO, AMCHAM welcomed them and shared more about AMCHAM’s two key reports: ‘Indo-U.S. Defence Partnership: The Road Ahead’ and ‘U.S. India Defence Partnership: Co-Production & Co-Development.’ She mentioned that AMCHAM was planning the next version which would encompass the complete U.S. defense industry’s engagement including co-production, co-development and exports as well as promotion of startups, to be released at AMCHAM’s 32nd AGM on August 8th in New Delhi. The Joint Secretary shared his views on the industry focussed draft MRO policy, ITAR, EAR, bridging the supply chain gaps and also shared thoughts on how industry could leverage the frameworks under the U.S –India Defence Industrial Cooperation Roadmap 2023 and U.S.–India initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET). Defense Committee members from BAE Systems, Pratt & Whitney, Lockheed Martin India, Honeywell, Smiths and L3 Harris, were amongst others present for this session.
