Fragomen Webcast: U.S. Immigration Impacts of COVID-19 – 16th April 2020
AMCHAM’s Karnataka Chapter, in partnership with Fragomen, hosted a webinar on April 16th to speak about the up-to-date immigration related intelligence and compliance guidance related to the COVID-19 pandemic which continues to spread, straining U.S. businesses as they attempt to identify and cope with travel bans, containment measures and regulatory restrictions affecting their employees and operations. The webinar covered the effects of border and consular closings, continuing compliance obligations with USCIS still accepting filings, rules related to work from home arrangements, rules relating to wage reductions, furloughs and layoffs, relaxed USCIS rules regarding certain filings deadlines and I-9 employment and eligibility compliance, an update on H-1 B lottery results and petition filing challenges and views on the road ahead. This was followed by an interactive Q&A.
