Energy Committee Roundtable with U.S. Embassy - 08 April 2024
AMCHAM’s Energy Committee had an interaction with the U.S. Embassy officials April 8th in New Delhi. The meeting’s objective was to discuss the growing importance of bilateral energy cooperation between United States and India, especially with regard to energy transition and achieving net zero goals, emerging business opportunities in the energy sector including renewable and CCUS, and how U.S. companies can be supported for undertaking feasibility studies, pilot projects and funding. Ms. Ranjana Khanna, Director General CEO, AMCHAM highlighted how the United States would be a major contributor towards achieving India’s net zero goals by 2070, which would require huge partnerships through investments, technology sharing and bilateral collaboration. Mr. Damon DuBord, Energy Unit Chief, U.S. Embassy delineated the policy related work being undertaken by the Embassy, especially with regard to bilateral engagements and highlighted that for both U.S. and India, climate change is a significant strategy for the future. Ms. Anastasia Mukherjee, Commercial Officer, U.S. Embassy spoke about how the Embassy has been working closely with the U.S. companies in India in the energy sector. Mr. Dylan Jones, Energy Attaché, Department of Energy, U.S. Embassy, stressed upon the great opportunities for private sector investment in the sector and assured support for policies, regulations and R&D initiatives. AMCHAM members from Baker Hughes, Blackstone, Cargill, Carrier, Dastur Energy, Emerson, ExxonMobil, FTI Consulting, Lanzatech, Rockwell Automation and Smiths Group, participated in the interaction. Ms. Ritu Arora, Sr. Commercial Specialist, U.S. Embassy, Ms. Tavleen Kaur, Economic Specialist (Energy), U.S. Embassy, Mr. Sikander Shah, Economic Specialist, U.S. Embassy, Ms. Anisha Shashidharan, Commercial Specialist, U.S. Embassy and Ms. Geeta Poduval, Director, AMCHAM participated.
