15th May 2020AMCHAM’s CSR Committee met for the first time in 2020-21 on May 15th though Webex under the leadership of Mr. Harish Krishnan, Chairman – CSR Committee, AMCHAM and Managing Director, Public Affairs & Strategic Engagements, Cisco India & SAARC, Cisco Systems (India), Ms. Sangita Ghalay, Co-Chairperson – CSR Committee, AMCHAM and Head – CSR, Honeywell India and Ms. Kshitija Krishnaswamy, Co-Chairperson – CSR Committee, AMCHAM and Managing Director – Corporate Citizenship, Accenture Solutions.

Ms. Ranjana Khanna welcomed participants and encouraged members to send in information about their COVID-19 related works so AMCHAM could continually showcase the corporate citizenship of U.S. industry in India through Twitter. Mr. Harish Krishnan set the tone for the meeting and requested everyone to share briefly what their organization was doing to fight against COVID. Ms. Kshitija Krishnaswamy said its more important than ever to look at opportunities to collaborate and learn from what others are doing. Ms. Sangita Ghalay mentioned that since most American companies having SOPs in place for post lockdown India, everyone should be able to help hand hold partners during this critical time.

Members shared their COVID efforts which included donating air purifiers and teleconference equipment, feeding the needy, making educational materials available, training healthcare workers, launching employee giving campaigns, donations to the PM Cares Fund, distributing hygiene kits and PPE, among others. The committee discussed future events and decided to do a CSR webinar series in partnership with Grant Thornton. The best way to virtually launch the AMCHAM CSR Photo Exhibition with the U.S. Embassy was also discussed.
